Berikan dan Lupakan ... !!!

Suatu malam hujan turun dengan lebat diiringi angin kencang dan petir yang menyambar-nyambar. Malam itu telepon berdering di rumah seorang dokter. ''Istri saya sakit,'' terdengar suara minta pertolongan. ''Dia sangat membutuhkan dokter segera. Si dokter menjawab, ''Dapatkah bapak menjemput saya sekarang ? Mobil saya sedang masuk bengkel.'' Mendengar jawaban itu, lelaki tersebut menjadi berang. ''Apa ?!'' katanya dengan marah. ''Saya harus pergi menjemput dokter pada malam yang berhujan lebat seperti ini?''
Coba Anda renungkan cerita inspiratif diatas. Kita senantiasa meminta sesuatu kepada orang lain. Sayangnya, kita seringkali lupa untuk memberi. Kita tak sadar bahwa apapun yang kita berikan sebenarnya adalah untuk diri kita sendiri, bukan untuk siapa-siapa. Di dunia ini tak ada yang gratis. Segala sesuatu ada harganya. Seperti halnya membeli barang, Anda harus memberi terlebih dahulu sebelum meminta barang tersebut. Kalau Anda seorang penjual, Anda pun harus memberikan pelayanan dan menciptakan produk sebelum meminta imbalan jasa Anda. Inilah konsep ''memberi sebelum meminta'' yang sayangnya sering kita lupakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Padahal ''memberi sebelum meminta'' adalah sebuah hukum alam. Kalau Anda ingin anak Anda mendengarkan apa yang Anda katakan, Andalah yang harus memulai dengan mendengarkan keluh kesah mereka. Kalau Anda ingin karyawan atau bawahan Anda bekerja dengan giat, Andalah yang harus memulai dengan memberikan perhatian, dan lingkungan kerja yang kondusif. Kalau Anda ingin disenangi dalam pergaulan, Anda harus memulainya dengan memberikan bantuan dan keperdulian kepada orang lain.

Orang yang tak mau memberi adalah mereka yang senantiasa dihantui perasaan takut miskin. Inilah orang-orang yang ''miskin'' dalam arti yang sesungguhnya. Padahal, di dunia ini berlaku hukum kekekalan energi. Kalau Anda memberikan energi positif kepada dunia, energi itu tak akan hilang. Ia pasti kembali kepada Anda.

Persoalannya, banyak orang mengharapkan imbalan perbuatan baiknya langsung dari orang yang ditolongnya. Ini suatu kesalahan. Dengan melakukan hal itu, Anda justru membuat bantuan tersebut menjadi tak bernilai. Anda mempraktikkan manajemen ''Ada Udang Di Balik Batu.'' Anda tak ikhlas dan tak tulus. Ini pasti segera dapat dirasakan oleh orang yang menerima pemberian Anda. Jadi, alih-alih menciptakan kepercayaan pemberian Anda malah akan menghasilkan kecurigaan.


Agar dapat efektif, Anda harus berperilaku seperti sang surya yang memberi tanpa mengharapkan imbalannya. Untuk itu tak cukup memberikan harta saja, Anda juga harus memberikan diri Anda, dari hati Anda yang paling dalam. Jangan pernah memikirkan imbalannya. Anda hanya perlu percaya bahwa apapun yang Anda berikan suatu ketika pasti kembali kepada Anda. Ini merupakan suatu keniscayaan, suatu hukum alam yang sejati.


Sebetulnya semua orang di dunia ini senantiasa memikirkan kepentingan dirinya sendiri. Namun, kita dapat membedakannya menjadi dua tipe orang. Orang pertama kita sebut sebagai orang yang egois. Merekalah orang yang selalu meminta tetapi tak pernah memberikan apapun untuk orang lain. Orang ini pasti dibenci dimana pun-ia berada.

Jenis orang kedua adalah orang yang juga mementingkan diri sendiri, tetapi dengan cara mementingkan orang lain. Mereka membuat orang lain bahagia agar mereka sendiri menjadi bahagia. Ini sebenarnya juga konsep mementingkan diri sendiri tetapi sudah diperhalus. Kalau Anda selalu memberikan perhatian dan bantuan kepada orang lain, banyak orang yang akan menghormati dan membantu Anda. Kalau demikian, Anda sebenarnya sedang berbuat baik pada diri Anda sendiri.

Bagaimana kalau Anda membaktikan diri Anda untuk menolong anak-anak terlantar dan orang-orang miskin ? Ini pun sebenarnya adalah tindakan ''mementingkan diri sendiri dengan cara mementingkan orang lain.'' Anda mungkin tak setuju dan mengatakan, ''Bukankah saya tidak mendapatkan apa-apa. Saya kan bekerja dengan sukarela" .Memang benar, Anda tidak mendapatkan apa-apa secara materi, tetapi apakah Anda sama sekali tidak mendapatkan apa-apa? Jangan salah, Anda tetap akan mendapatkan sesuatu yaitu kepuasan batin. Kepuasan batin inilah yang Anda cari. Anda membantu orang lain supaya mendapatkan hal ini.

Jadi, apapun yang kita lakukan di dunia ini semuanya adalah untuk kepentingan kita sendiri. Orang-orang yang egois sama sekali tak memahami hal ini. Mereka tak sadar bahwa mereka sedang merusak diri mereka sendiri.

Sementara orang-orang yang baik budinya sadar bahwa kesuksesan dan kebahagiaan baru dapat dicapai kalau kita membuat orang lain senang, menang, dan bahagia. Hanya dengan cara itulah kita akan dapat menikmati kemenangan kita dalam jangka panjang. Inilah hukum Menang-Menang (win-win) yang berlaku dimana saja, kapan saja dan untuk siapa saja.
